What did you study?
I studied medicine. Following my internship, I returned to Wits, then went to the UK where I did junior rotations and stayed on working for a further six months. I returned to Wits to study Orthopaedic Surgery and thereafter trained in paediatric orthopaedic surgery. I am currently working toward my master’s in medicine in orthopaedic surgery.
What work do you do and why did you choose this path?
I am a full-time specialist in paediatric orthopaedic surgery at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and run a very limited private practice after hours. I am very involved in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates at Wits and UJ in medicine and other allied medical fields. As well as sponsored training in aspects of the management of cerebral palsy.
