Alon Lits joined Uber as its first General Manager in Africa (first employee in Africa, first 300 globally) in August in 2013. Alon moved into his role as General Manager for Uber in Sub-Saharan Africa in early 2015. He is responsible for the development and sustainable growth for the business and team across 6 countries and 13 cities. There are over 1.3m riders and 36,000 drivers who make use of Uber's technology across the region.
He began his career in the leveraged finance division of Investec Bank Limited, where he provided debt and preference share financing solutions to public and private companies in South Africa, as well as Africa’s largest private equity funds.
Alon is born and raised in South Africa and is passionate about South Africa and Africa. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and is also qualified as an Associate of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries in the UK.
