Dr. Metrikin is a Partner at Southwest Retina Consultants P.A and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the vitreous, macula and retina. He has received specialty training in conditions related to the retina and vitreous of the eye and his practice has a specific focus on state-of-the-art eye care to treat all forms of retinal disease, including age related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment and ocular inflammatory disease.
David obtained his medical degree at WITS University and then moved to the U.S.A. in 1987. After studying pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and completing an internship at the Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital he was a resident in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. He completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and joined Southwest Retina Consultants, P.A. in El Paso in 1995.
