As a long-standing leader and entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in the corporate training and education sectors, I’ve been privileged to navigate a career defined by innovation, resilience, and empowerment. I hold a PhD in Literature from Wits University and have attended Executive Programs at the Harvard School of Business and the Kellogg School of Management.
Armed with the education and values imparted to me at King David School, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey 35 years ago, founding and growing two successful companies. Both were eventually sold to listed entities—one on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the other on the Australian Stock Exchange.
I have been so fortunate to be recognised through many awards including an Honorary Lifelong Membership of City and Guilds, UK in recognition of the work we did to improve literacy and numeracy skills in South Africa. Our company also featured at position #7 on Australia's list of most innovative companies.
This year, I was privileged to be selected to attend the prestigious Fortune Most Powerful Women Conference, a testament to my ongoing commitment to empowering others and leading with innovation. This recognition reflects my passion for breaking down barriers and continuing to inspire the next generation of leaders.
“As a proud alumna of King David School, I look back with immense gratitude for the way the school shaped my personal and professional journey. At King David, the culture was one of inclusivity and empowerment, where every student, regardless of gender, was encouraged to pursue their dreams to the fullest.
There was never a moment where I was made to feel that my potential was limited because I was a girl. In fact, when I entered the corporate world and heard talk of a "glass ceiling" for women, I didn’t understand what they meant—I had never experienced anything like that at school. King David taught me that ambition has no boundaries.
Some of the most lasting impressions were left by teachers like the late Rose Cohen, who sparked my love for literature and the unforgettable Mr Wolf, who instilled in me a lifelong respect for grammar—I'm still cautious about using the subjective instead of the objective case!
King David School gave me the foundation to excel and I continue to carry the lessons learned from those formative years into every aspect of my career today”.
