Ernest Mazansky is Head of the Tax practice area at Werksmans Attorneys.. He specialises in corporate tax planning; restructuring of corporate entities; share incentive schemes; dispute resolution/tax controversy; offshore structures & financing; exchange control; VAT; estate planning; and wills & trusts (local and international).
Ernest is past chairman of the Taxation Committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants; Chairman of the Institute’s Exchange Control Committee; and South African correspondent for the Bulletin for International Taxation, published by the IBFD. He is named as a pre-eminent practitioner in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers (2008 and 2018).
He is the South African correspondent of the Bulletin for International Taxation and is the author of the South African chapter of The Delicate Balance – Tax Discretion and the Rule of Law, both published by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD). He is also co-author of the chapter on trusts in Silke on International Tax. He is often a guest speaker at a variety of forums, and is frequently quoted in the media on professional topics.
