Dr Max Price

Dr Price was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town from 2008 to 2018. He is medically qualified and an expert in public health, health policy and health economics. He was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand for ten years.

During the 1980s and 1990s he held various positions in health activist organisations, and was appointed by the Minister of Health to the advisory committees on Health Financing (chair, 1994) and National Health Insurance(1995).

He was a Rhodes Scholar and is an Honorary Fellow of the Colleges of Medicine of SA.
